No, Uber does not supply engineering professionals…yet. But wouldn’t it be nice? Uber has blown up the Taxi industry, the Limo industry, and even the idea of personal ownership of vehicles. Their solution is more convenient, quicker, and lower cost. The user gets more choices of the driver, the vehicle, and the pickup time. Sometimes a longterm relationship develops outside of Uber that is mutually beneficial.
We are a tiny bit like Uber—a small group of software and electronics professionals that are available for hire on a temporary basis. And we have a growing network of friends with expertise that extends or compliments our own. We provide centralized billing for our principals, and can pass-through invoices for our referral network. Or just refer them directly to you.
How are we different from Contract Agencies or larger Consulting Companies? We work independently, and do not have the overhead of a Contract Agency or a large Consulting Company. Most of our clients have tried both of those and learned the downsides. Big companies sell their extensive expertise, but often assign a junior person for your project. Then the junior person leaves the company in the middle of your project, leaving a mess and causing delays. Worse, some companies outsource the work overseas but still charge you premium rates. We are independent, seasoned professionals that are dedicated to your project, and get the job done faster and therefore usually cheaper. If you need followup work, or periodic updates, then you can develop a longer term relationship with your consultant.
